mpv became extremely slow

Hi

after recent system updates the mpv video player became very slow, dropping frames all the time.

I use kernel 5.0.4-arch1-1 and nvidia-dkms 418.56-2.

I tried to compile mpv from scratch (githuib) but, even freshly compiled, the problem remains.

mplayer doesn't seem to have this problem though.

Also: doesn't seem to affect graphic performance of other programs: 5k video in firefox, no problem.

Any hints as to why this might happen, how to debug?
