I am having this strange problem with xorg. I configure with
Xorg -configure
and test the setting with
X -config /home/xorg.conf.new
and everything works fine. When I copy the new file to /etc/X11 and type startx I get an error message saying that dri is not loaded.
What am I doing wrong?
I am installing on a IBM T21 laptop.
Thanks for any input!

Well the path for the mouse was wrong.
It complains about DRI not being enabled and that it could not load GLX. Apart from that it works fine.

oh  ye old Xorg path changes lol...
if it works then it most likely doesn't need dri.
which prolly means, u r using the nvidia drivers..
so u should just comment out the line that loads it..
if u r usiing nvidia drivers.. u r prolly gonna feel silly lol.. but if u'd just ran, nvidia-xconfigure..
u would have al this trouble

Stupid question, but is DRI installed? And I belive it has to be enabled in the kernel, perhaps you need to load some kernel modules?
Offline
Yes I did install DRI. Not really into kernel stuff yet.
