[SOLVED] directory permission

Hello everyone
I have created a folder with fmask=012 and it's and its content is owned by root:mygroup.
I have added myself to that group 'usermod -aG mygroup mmdamin' then logged in again. After that I tried to get access to that directory but I get permission error.
As I give rw permission to that directory for mygroup and I'm in that group, I should be able to access to that directory, but I'm not.
EDIT: sudo ls -l shows all files are rwxrw-r--

Re: [SOLVED] directory permission

"mygroup:root"

=> man chown - the order matters.

Re: [SOLVED] directory permission

Does the directory have the correct execute permissions for the group?

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan
Closing -- for deletion; Banning -- for muppetry. - jasonwryan

Re: [SOLVED] directory permission

You need execute permissions on directories to enter them: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fi … ermissions
