[SOLVED] How did I get bin, (...) directories in /home?

Sorry if this post is noise, I'm not sure what to search for and I'm not even sure it's a problem.

Here's what's in my /home directory:

╭─ robert@caroline    /home                                            ✔
╰─ ls -l

lrwxrwxrwx  1 root   root      7 Dec  6 15:19 bin -> usr/bin
drwxr-xr-x  3 root   root   4096 Mar 26 14:53 boot
drwxr-xr-x  2 root   root   4096 Mar 17 20:02 dev
drwxr-xr-x  2 root   root   4096 Mar 26 14:53 efi
drwxr-xr-x 43 root   root   4096 Mar 26 14:53 etc
drwxr-xr-x  2 root   root   4096 Mar 17 19:51 home
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root   root      7 Dec  6 15:19 lib -> usr/lib
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root   root      7 Dec  6 15:19 lib64 -> usr/lib

drwxr-xr-x  2 root   root   4096 Dec  6 15:19 mnt
drwxr-xr-x  2 root   root   4096 Mar 26 14:53 opt
dr-xr-xr-x  2 root   root   4096 Mar 17 20:02 proc
drwx------ 27 robert wheel  4096 Mar 28 00:01 robert
drwxr-x---  4 root   root   4096 Mar 18 12:07 root
drwxr-xr-x  2 root   root   4096 Mar 17 20:02 run
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root   root      7 Dec  6 15:19 sbin -> usr/bin
drwxr-xr-x  4 root   root   4096 Mar 17 20:08 srv
dr-xr-xr-x  2 root   root   4096 Mar 17 20:02 sys
drwxrwxrwt  2 root   root   4096 Mar 17 20:02 tmp
drwxr-xr-x  9 root   root   4096 Mar 18 11:25 usr
drwxr-xr-x 12 root   root   4096 Mar 17 20:08 var

Did I do something dumb or do I not understand what the home directory is for?

Root, home and swap partitions are lvm volumes on a luks encrypted partition.

they seem to be links. there's also an embedded /home/home/ folder, which makes me curious what's inside it.

did you attempt to do an install over another install? were you messing around with cgroups, or chroot? did you install any software recently that's intended to do any sort of virtualization?

those are the places I'd start to try to figure out what's happened.

Re: [SOLVED] How did I get bin, (...) directories in /home?

I didn't attempt to install over an install, it's been running well over the past few weeks. I have various web development tools such as nvm, python, rbenv, and such but I don't see how they would do that. I also shrank my swap and home partitions to get more space on the root partition a few days ago.

Maybe I inadvertently ran pacstrap on the wrong partition during the intstall process? I did reformat a few times trying to get the partition setup I wanted.

If helpful, here's lsblk -f

Edit: yeah, that's what it looks like. I must have run pacstrap on my home partition. I'm a dunderhead. Thanks for the help y'all.
