I recently got a new T460s and immediately installed Arch Linux with gnome on it. Everything seems to be working fine, but every once in a while, sometimes even a couple times a day, the laptop either completely freezes (even sysrq keys don't work) or just crashes reboots. (One interesting note about the freezes: if audio was playing previously, it continues, but starts looping the same segment over and over again)
I've tried figuring out what the cause is, but there's never anything in the journal and the crashes seem to happen completely at random.
Some more information about my system:
* I've updated the BIOS to the latest version (1.15)
* The microcode is installed
* I'm running the latest kernel (4.7.2)
* I tried using both the modesetting driver and the intel Xorg driver (Intel 520 graphics)
* I'm using the libinput driver
If anyone has any suggestions, advice, or has experienced this, please let me know.
Thanks!

Try using the LTS kernel and check if problem persists...

I'll try it. Wouldn't the LTS kernel have less Skylake support though?

I have the same laptop with no crashing issues, running the latest kernel. Not helpful but at least you know that your problem is abnormal. I use i3 but I used Gnome for a few weeks and had no issues either.

You could try performing the built-in self-tests if your laptop's uefi has those (cpu, ram/memtest, etc.) and see if at least there everything is working properly. If everything seems ok then it's most probably a software bug.

Also using a T460s here (i3, modesetting driver and libinput), the only issue that I had so far with the 4.7 kernel was that the audio stopped working but nothing along the side of random crashes/reboots.
I'm not sure if there is a built-in self check for internal components like cpu and memory but you could try running memtest86 to check the RAM (there is a free version with the source apparently included).
If there are no problems with the RAM I'd also recommend to check if there are any problems with the SSD (like a filesystem check or some S.M.A.R.T. tests/reports).

Well, I haven't had any problems in a couple of days, so maybe this was just a temporary problem somehow

I have had the exact same problem here as the detailed story of this other person here :

Memory stick is giving those crashes. @aouelete I realize that the post is old. Was that the issue finally? If so, did you manage to fix that and how?
