My computer is only producing a weird static noise and if i try to play anything with sound there is no sound. This is not a new install, and I had not run a update. I have already tried the amixer sset unmute commands. I am sorry for not providing more information, but I don't know what else to post.

Output of "amixer"?
To rule out the d'ohhh - this would happen if you'd plug some analogue output into an analogue input jack (mic/line)…

Here is the output of amixer. I rebooted my computer before, and it did not fix the problem, but now that I have come back and turned my computer back on audio is working fine, so I don't really know what to say.

I just want to add that I had the exact same issue. I tried rebooting two times but didn't help. However, when I powered it off and then a few seconds later back on, the issue went away.
It's a Dell 7559 laptop.
EDIT: The issue initially appeared after some playing with volume over 100 and a reboot.
