Evening all.
On a Toshiba UEFI laptop, I've just moved from running a stock kernel to the lts kernel. The old kernel loaded the ralink r8168 ethernet module with r8169 blacklisted.
On first boot, the ethernet card didn't work, understandably, so i installed r8168-lts, and rebooted.
Still no joy, but what really confuses me is that while the new lts kernel boots and runs ok, the original r8168 module still gets loaded from the directory
/usr/lib/modules/extramodules-ARCH
instead of the r8168-lts being loaded from directory
/usr/lib/modules/extramodules-4.19-lts
The fact that I've been able to find nothing about this in the forums makes me think I've overlooked something pitifully obvious.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Although the full dmesg output would have been more conslusive the output in post #3 does not show r8168 being loaded from /usr/lib/modules/extramodules-ARCH
What output indicates to you it is being loaded from /usr/lib/modules/extramodules-ARCH ?

er, well...
locate r8168
/usr/lib/modprobe.d/r8168-lts.conf
/usr/lib/modprobe.d/r8168.conf
/usr/lib/modules/extramodules-4.19-lts/r8168.ko.xz
/usr/lib/modules/extramodules-ARCH/r8168.ko.xzIt's only that I can't see where else it could be loaded from.

Ah... maybe I have indeed missed something obvious - the stock and lts modules have the same name.
...so infact that loaded module *is* the lts one??
Offline
The modinfo output indicates under linux-lts the module would be loaded from /usr/lib/modules/extramodules-4.19-lts/r8168.ko.xz
Edit:
Correct the module name is independent of kernel name.

Ok. Many thanks for your time and apologies for this noise.
Now to go and look into why eth0 isn't working with all else equal.
