Logitech 960 USB headset, mute button doesn't work

I bought the Logitech 960 USB headset. Everything works (audio, micro, volume buttons) except for the mute button. I can mute/unmute via "pavucontrol" and the light on the headset indicates the correct state, but if i press the mute button on the headset nothing happens. Does anyone have experience with this headset or with USB headsets in general?
