Hi
I'm using Microsoft ergonomic 4000 keyboard and in xmodmap
I did the following changes
I changed XF86Lauch5 Xf86Launch6 to
keycode 192 = XF86Copy XF86Copy XF86Copy XF86Copy XF86Copy
and
keycode 193 = XF86Paste XF86Paste XF86Paste XF86Paste XF86Paste
Following the instructions for xmodmap from archlinux forum
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xmodmap/
I added
[[ -f ~/.Xmodmap ]] && xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap
in ~/.xinitrc.
While these changes work in firefox and libreoffice when I'm in xfce4 when I use gnome I have to run xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap in the terminal in order to activate these changes and also these keyboards shortcuts works only in firefox.
I also added [[ -f ~/.Xmodmap ]] && xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc with no result in gnome.
The same results making the changes
keycode 192 = XF86Copy NoSymbol XF86Copy NoSymbol XF86Copy
and
keycode 193 = XF86Paste NoSymbol XF86Paste NoSymbol XF86Paste
Is there is a way to make these changes work in gnome for firefox and libreoffice without to have to run xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap in the terminal every tome I log in.
Thanks

Please see https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode and edit your post.
Is gnome a wayland or an X11 session?
echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPEOffline
the command
echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
gives wayland

Almost solved the problem
log in in gnome x11, indeed the keyboard shortcuts work in firefox and libreoffice but I have to run the command xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap in the terminal and for some reason it delays to respond in the command.

The gnome session will rather not automatically source xinitrc nd even if it does: if (likely) it sets the keyboard layout, your modmap gets nuked in the process.

thanks
I made gnome to run xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap on startup and everything works.
