As suggested in the title, this question is probably a duplicate question or just a dumb question.
I am using Arch without a DE (just a WM), and I was wondering how to be able to switch between US, US International, and Japanese (with an IM, e.g. Anthy) with a keybind (e.g. Alt-Space). I set up xkb for switching between US and US International the way I'd like:
setxkbmap -model dell -layout us,us -variant ,intl -option grp:alt_space_toggleThat works great for just US keyboards. However, I'd like to add Japanese (with an IM) to these layouts/keyboards. Installing the uim and anthy packages allows for Japanese input with Shift-Space, but I'd like it to enable Anthy when I switch keyboard layouts (with Alt-Space). I've seen this behavior in GNOME, however I'd like to avoid a DE if possible. Is there a way I can do this? If so, how?
For clarification, right now I have, in my .xinitrc:
export GTK_IM_MODULE='uim'
export QT_IM_MODULE='uim'
uim-xim &
export XMODIFIERS='@im=uim'
setxkbmap -model dell -layout us,us,jp -variant ,intl, -option grp:alt_space_toggleWhich allows me to switch between us, us(intl), and jp keyboards with Alt-Space, and enable IM with Shift-Space.
However, I would like IM to automatically enable with the jp layout, similar to how is possible in GNOME.
