Upgrade to kdebase 3.5.4-4 borks KDE (solved)

Many KDE apps, including certain kcontrol modules (e.g. the samba one) crashing almost instantly after that upgrade.
Used to work just fine with the previous kdebase.
gdb messages aren't very helpful, but anyway:

(this is from a crashing kcontrol/samba session). managing samba through webmin or cli works just fine, so...
BTW it also crashes when run as root, but without any gdb output- it just poofs away...
Any ideas?

Re: Upgrade to kdebase 3.5.4-4 borks KDE (solved)

It works now for me- after wiping the smb.conf and replacing it with smb.conf.default and then altering it.
However, I do believe that my smb.conf was perfectly valid- why KDE network modules should complain, while every other samba configuration utility could not find any syntax errors?
Oh well- the problem does not exist anymore, but still I do not know why the KDE modules crashed- should I flag it as "solved" or not?

Re: Upgrade to kdebase 3.5.4-4 borks KDE (solved)

well the only difference between -3 and -4 was a kicker patch, don't know how this would affect samba

OK, thanks for input. Flagged as "solved", although I have no idea why my smb.conf caused crashes in KDE modules- only...
