After a recent update, Alt-Tab behavior in GNOME is not working properly.
When hitting alt-tab, indeed the cycling window pops up, but if I have window 1 focused and another window 2 in the background, then the window order is 2-1 (instead of 1-2) essentially putting me right back on window 1.
Does anyone else see this behavior? I didn't find any relevant upstream bugs, nor do I have any special shortcut configuration that might affect this problem.

Works for me here (only tested on X, not Wayland). Do you use the standard alt-tab if GNOME Shell or do you maybe have one of the extensions installed that replace the standard alt-tab?

I don't have any extensions installed, and I'm using the default Wayland.
I've just found this which might be relevant - https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/issues/541

Can you give details of a state of your desktop in which this happens, so others might reproduce the issue?
What windows are open in what order?
macro_rules! yolo { { $($tokens:tt)* } => { unsafe { $($tokens)* } }; }

You need Wayland for this issue to happen. Related to recently fixed Xorg focus issue.
