Hi all, I have an i7 8750h (laptop, 12 cores) and have set the governor to performance as the CPU was maxing only spiking to about 1.2 GHz under stress (compression) now it is at 3.9 (6 core turbo Freq) but throttling 80% and it's all because it wants to keep the CPU at 50° but I want don't want it to throttle till about 90° because I'm getting nowhere near the performance I should, can any of you aid me in this? I have cpupower and thermald installed

That processor has a base frequency of 2.2 Ghz , if it only reached 1.2 GHz something is very wrong.
Check UEFI firmware settings.
Post full dmesg and journalctl -b output please.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
(A works at time B) && (time C > time B ) ≠ (A works at time C)

I know, as I said it's because whatever is controlling it wants to keep it at 50°c, but TJunction is 100°c so it's throttling it up to about 80%, I haven't had chance to go on my laptop since OP, sorry, I will post the outputs of those tonight

I'm guessing this is thermald. It's trying to keep things at 45°C according to the ArchWiki here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CP … g#thermald
