(chromebook) Unable to boot into EFI mode

I have an ASUS eeePC1001PXD and I cant find away to expose the efi variables. I found the issue when I was installing GRUB nearing the end of the installation. All the documentation on models similar to mine say to turn off "boot booster" in the BIOS menu but there isn't an option for that on my specific model. I even updated the BIOS, still no "boot booster" or "safe mode" option to turn off. Does anyone know how to expose the EFI variables without doing anything preliminary at BIOS? Thanks!

Why do you want to do that?

What issue did you find?

The --removable flag will allow the UEFI grub-install command to work even if the machine is not booted in UEFI mode.

If you are completely unable to boot in UEFI mode then just install in non-UEFI mode.
