jconsole returning error

When I try to launch the j9 binary from the j9-git package in the AUR it returns "Illegal instruction core dumped."  This is all the info I get and am not really sure what it means. I installed several dependencies and symlinked libedit.so.2 like the wiki said and still no hope.
