Gnome - Open with changes default

Hi,

I noticed that recently (?) when I open e.g. a pdf file in Nautilus (Gnome File) using "open with" and choose let's say gimp, the default also switches immediately from evince to gimp. Which is quite annoying because the default should stick to ... the default. Anyone else experiencing this behaviour? And this is true for all file types, not only pdf.

Best wishes.

Re: Gnome - Open with changes default

You need to install this package from AUR:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/shar … nfo-gnome/

Re: Gnome - Open with changes default

Sorry, no luck. Installed the package. Did a restart of the gnome-shell. Still the same behavior.

1. Double klick open pdf: evince
2. Right klick, open with: gimp
3. Double klick open pdf: gimp

The default changed. Why should mime-info have an effect on that?

Looks like a bug, report to gitlab.gnome/org

Re: Gnome - Open with changes default

Hey, I found the bug:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/issues/1026

it seems your suggestions with mime-types is right, but somehow was not really working for me.

If found an easy solution for me: to have a "real" default application one has to define it once for each filetype, e.g right klick on a pdf, go to "open with" tab and set a default applicaion. From then on the default will stick to this application. If no "real" default is defined, whatever was used latest is the default (at least so it seems).
