Qemu: disk UUID changing with changes in machine model, solution?

A Qemu virtual machine with Arch Linux installed on it while running the default, presumably PIIX machine model seems to misbehave when the machine model is specified as q35 with a disk with a certain UUID is not being found.

Not exactly surprising as it's safe to assume that the device UUID changed with changes in the underlying hardware. This pretty much what would be expected with real hardware.

One could easily reinstall this VM but this is obviously a hacky solution.

PS: This is not exactly an Arch Linux question, more or less generally a Linux question.

Any input on possible solutions would be much appreciated.

sure it isn't due to do different drivers needed? Tried booting the fallback initcpio?
