Arch ZFS: zpool lost completely following failure of one vdev

I have been running ZFS on Arch since about 6 years. 5x 3TB drives in a zpool with all drives renewed in late 2017
Recently during a monthly cron scrub one drive was indicated as failed but the zpool was still online and data safe. While continuing to scrub it, it later stopped in its tracks completely. Looking at SMART there is a failure of the one drive while other 4 are healthy. Now the zpool is non-existent to ZFS:

sudo zpool import -f storage
cannot import 'storage': no such pool or dataset
Destroy and re-create the pool from
	a backup source.

I've been searching around without success but I'm coming to the dark reality that my fate is sealed regarding the data (family photo's & videos). However this last desperate plea if anyone knows of a 'Hail Mary' solution.
Since the remaining 4 drives are healthy, I'm holding on to the hope the data is still intact.

Thanks, sad
