So, I've accumulated a few issues in a short timespan.
The first, is that when using the nouveau driver (with lts kernel 4.19.41-1) firefox causes a crash that makes me unable to switch TTY, the mouse freezes, so on, all except audio from a given video. I am unsure what causes this crash, or where to look, however I believe it may be flashplayer or other media as it worked briefly on a few occasions without videos playing.
The second issue is that when using the same lts kernel with nvidia-lts, I get an no screens and a nvidia loading error, as below:

Or, so I assume: A complication is, as you'll note, that my logs in /var/log/Xorg.0.log do not consistently update with each boot, and that one is a few days old. My original solution was to downgrade linux-lts linux-lts-headers. Subsequently, I decided to update to the current as a few updates had passed - it worked, but then I decided to switch to noveau, leading to the firefox issue, and so I went back, and had the trouble with xorg that I, again, am assuming, is the same as before.
Everything works fine with the current non-lts kernel and nvidia packages:
$ uname -r
5.0.13-arch1-1-ARCH
To summarise the issues:
Firefox causes system freeze with nouveau and current linux-lts, only audio works.
Xorg cannot start with linux-lts and nvidia-lts, current vers. Previously worked with downgraded linux-lts.
Xorg logs not updating. Everything working with nvidia and linux 5.0.13.
I would like to use nouveau and linux-lts, and if nvidia-lts + linux-lts combo is an issue with the current version of the lts kernel, I'd like directions on filing a bug report if it's appropriate.
Thanks for any support, it's been quite the while since I've done any troubleshooting so if you need specific info I'll need some handholding.

Remove your xorg.conf when you are trying to use nvidia, also I would suggest using nvidia-dkms, as the nvidia-lts package tends to get out of sync somewhat frequently.
Sidenote: Why do you wan to use lts and what hardware is this?

I tried this, as well as nvidia-xconfig.

I'll bear this in mind, thank you.
Sidenote: Why do you wan to use lts and what hardware is this?
I have had issues with at least two updates since 5.0.0 with getting my wifi to work - granted, I have not troubleshooted directly, just taken an 'out of sight, out of mind' approach. Each time it has been fixed by the next time I went back to the non-lts. The driver is the rtl88xxau-aircrack-dkms-git.
My GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, CPU is an Intel Xeon X5470:

nvidia-xonfig generates broken config files 90% of the time, don't use it.
Edit: the first post indicates a kernel module version mismatch, make sure both the nvidia-lts and linux-lts packages are up to date and that you are booted into the correct kernel.

I have been through the process of uninstalling both current and downgraded nvidia packages, running and then rerunning mkinitcpio just to make sure I'm not brainfarting - nvidia is in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf, I have blacklisted nouveau.
Sorry for the slow reply, and thanks for the help.
Edit: And, of course, reinstalling.
modprobe nvidia
shows no luck either.

What exactly did you downgrade? If just the nvidia packages you've created a mismatch between the kernel and the nvidia-lts package, downgrade both if you really think that that's the cause. Right now you are running some incompatible combination. FWIW update everything again, reboot, if it still fails, post an updated xorg and a dmesg and a /var/log/pacman.log

Ah! So, yeah, I had brainfarted, and downgraded only nvidia-lts and nvidia-utils, not linux-lts. Sorry.
So, downgrading nvidia-lts, nvidia-utils, and linux-lts all to 418.74 variantas and 4.19.42-1, respectively, worked. However, I had trouble with my wifi driver - it's rtl88xxau-aircrack-dkms-git from the AUR. I couldn't get it to work with the downgraded linux-lts, probably because I was trying to install it in some way that is incorrect? I always need internet to install, I am unsure how to install after that with any given kernel package using dkms, using dkms autoinstall rtl... always gives me
File: /var/lib/dkms/rtl8821au/5.1.5.r74.g30fb964/source/dkms.conf does not exist.
(so, to clarify, I just connect via my phone to the wifi and run yay -S rtl88xxau-aircrack-dkms-git).
Somewhere in the process I had an issue running Xorg as my user, with the following log:

I think this may have been because nvidia-utils wasn't at its current version, and I believe after that I upgraded to current and am currently using the standard kernel due to the wifi issue on the downgraded lts and the version mismatch between current lts and current nvidia-lts.
I say 'I think', I hadn't taken due note of what exact path I followed, I've had a pretty bad headache the last few hours, so sorry about that.
Thanks again for all the help.

Your wifi driver did break because you now had a mismatch with the linux-lts-headers package FWIW since the nvidia-lts package seems to have some maintenance woes currently (it very frequently did/does not get rebuilt on time and is currently again in an incompatible state) you could alleviate this by switching to nvidia-dkms which should make relevant kernel rebuilds happen automatically, for any kernel installed, as long as the corresponding header package is present as well..

Sorry @Mr.Elendig in that case, I was a bit confused by the suggestion to use nvidia-dkms and intended to look into it, I wasn't aware it could cover for the -lts variants as well.

Derp. Thanks a lot for all the help. I'm not going to test right now (very busy/preoccupied), but I'll mark the thread as solved as I essentially had all my questions answered, aside from the nouveau + firefox issue (which I'm guessing may simply be a fact of life for nouveau atm). Thanks again!
