[BUG?] Steam (proton) huge FPS drop / stuttering ingame

Hi all!
Since a year I'm a happy Steam player using Proton.
I only play at MGSV:The Phantom Pain.
Until yesterday the game was running really fast, everything was good and performances were really good (the same of Win10).

Suddenly today, out of nowhere, the game is having huge FPS drops after 1 or 2 or also 5 minutes of playing.
If I continue playing, the game keeps with stuttering.

Same behaviour with both Proton 3.16-9 Beta and both 4.2-3.
Btw I previously always used only 3.16-9 Beta.

I don't know where to look and to what look for, I need advice.

Please help!

Nothing (in the Arch side) that I am ware of...
Steam updated itself (its usual updates done via the client) and it also updates the game and Proton.

I re-installed (# pacman -S) "steam" and "xf86-video-amdgpu".

... I just hope it's not some faulty component! :"(

Did you try other games?
I mean, playing Windows games via wine itself or Linux native games or also other games from inside Steam library?

Is your Arch / PC running smooth? Did you notice maybe other strange behaviours in your system?

You said that you had same performances as in Win10. Could you then try the game in Win10 and see if runs well?
Could be a good starting point at least to discriminate HW problems! wink

So... I tried the game in Steam on WIn10 and there are no problems so far...
Also I managed to play smooth with my old Max Payne via wine-staging and also Counter Strike: GO is working fine in Arch (Steam).

The PC is running good as usual on everyday applications.

I close this topic as this could be related to a bug in Proton and / or Steam for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
