Alexa to pulseaudio

This is a reverse of just about everything I can find on Google. I have an echo dot, and want the audio to come via pulse top my desktop speakers. I know that it can be done, because I did it yesterday, though I have no idea how. It wasn't working, and then it was. Having shutdown the computer, I can't make it work again.

I can get audio going the other way (from desktop to the echo).

The sink connects via bluetooth, but not the source (which is what I believe that I need) and fails with

Failed to change profile to a2dp_source

Could anyone enlighten me?
