I'm installing GRUB per the Arch instructions on my Dell XPS 13 (9360). UEFI
I already had Windows installed and need to keep it. My partitions consist of a Linux swap, a linux drive, a windows drive, a windows recovery drive, and an EFI partition which I just made.
The EFI partition is the correct partition type and is FAT32
I mounted my linux partition to /mnt and mounted my EFI parition to /mnt/efi
I arch-chrooted into /mnt and ran
# grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=esp --bootloader-id=GRUBreplacing esp with my efi directory
GRUB is now installed and visible under /efi/EFI/GRUB
Additionally I've generated the main config file with
# grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfgBut when I reboot and select my SSD as the boot, I just get a black screen with an underscore

So you don't see the GRUB screen at all? But you could see the GRUB menu for the ISO image?
Load the ISO image and check the output of
# efibootmgr -vIs the Arch entry present and is it set as first in the boot order?
You can use a pastebin client to generate a URL for the full output of that command that you can post here for further analysis.
The output of
# parted --listmay also be useful.
What is your graphics hardware?

IIRC, you should use the entire path of your EFI directory in your --efi-directory parameter, e.g.
# grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/mnt/efi --bootloader-id=GRUB[edit]: misread first post. Long day. Please remove this post if necessary.
BTW: the wiki recommends to mount the EFI partition either in /efi or /boot.

Have a read over the following blog post , I have the same setup and the instructions worked fine
Its also worth making sure your BIOS is set to use EFI by default.

Don't do that. Random blog posts are unsupported here because they are always wrong, or outdated, or usually both.
