Hey guys,
I'm facing the issue that my laptop randomly freezes after a random amount of time. I found another forum post about this issue but I didn't quite understand what to do, since the people answered specifically to an attached logfile.
Infos:
Laptop: Acer Budget old thing with Intel Pentium N3540, Intel HD Graphics, 4GB DDR3 L Memory, 500GB HDD
Logfile after recent crash (journalctl -b-1): https://pastebin.com/7wkkDa25
I have no idea what to do, I'd love to get some help, at least someone tell me what the error might be, so I can do more research on it.
Regards

First and foremost... Is your system up to date?
May 16 07:40:17 SAMARITAN kernel: Linux version 5.0.13-arch1-1-ARCH (builduser@heftig-13472) (gcc version 8.3.0 (GCC)) #1 SMP PREEMPArch is on 5.1.2 Kernel now
Edit: It looks like you are using a DE which can have many angles where it could go wrong. AFTER you update your system could you try a basic X/Wayland environment with something like openbox / I3 to see if you can replicate crash.
You have not noted what you are doing when this happens either... nor config files or driver modules used. You are just saying that what ever you are doing there is correlation with a "crash"? Could you change tty for example?.... Its any ones game.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes I am using KDE and as the log shows, there are a bunch of errors regarding KDE. However, during this morning the laptop crashed around 8 times so far. I am not entirely sure, but I assume it has to do with the tmpfs size. The crashed seem to only occur when installing something from the AUR (with increased tmp folder size). If I understood this correctly, arch uses the tmpfs folder for downloading and unzipping the file from the AUR. That folder is on the RAM. So might it be the issue that my RAM simply gets entirely full?
I plan on changing the tmpfs location to my hdd, is that acceptable or are there any downsides to that method?

Don't change tmpfs location, it's a good idea to have that on RAM, change the build/cache dir of whatever helper you are using. FWIW "Arch uses tmpfs for downloading and unzipping from AUR" doesn't make any sense, Arch has no support for AUR helpers that would do this by default.

I would check how much RAM is free to see if this is the case. free -m
4GB of RAM should be sufficient in almost most cases unless you are compiling huge apps.
Does an Idle system take up a lot of your free memory space? Do you have a swap ?
Edit: Could you also post df -h?
