Cannot startx

Hello there, a new user here!

I am trying to get bspwm and the accompanying programs to work on my Arch machine. (I just have a bash screen right now.) And I have tried reading about it to get a handle on it, and I am now lost.

So, when I startx, I get this error:

/etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc: line 2: /usr/bin/X: Success
xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server: Connection refused
xinit: server error

The contents of my .xinitrc file are as follows,

#if [ -d /etc/X11/xinitrd.d]; then
#for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/?* ; do
#done
#unset f
#fi

sxhkd &
exec bspwm

Any insight would be awesome, and I am happy to provide any other information as needed. Thanks!

1. Please use code tags when pasting to the boards: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … s_and_code

2. Forget bswpm for the time being, it is unnecessary complexity: just get a simple X session working as per the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xi … figuration

3. Fix your xinitrc and paste an Xorg log if it doesn't work.
