I've upgraded my wifi card but after doing that I had to reenter the passwords/security details in order to connect to the networks I usually connect to. I'm using gnome and NetworkManager. Is this expected behavior?
I have not been successful in looking for information about this so far.

Networkmanager can (and most of it's GUIs do by default) associate information for a specific connection with the interface they were used on. So since your interface changed, they will see that as a "new connection". Not sure how it looks on gnome's config side however on kde with plasma-nm you can specify whether a connection/credentials should be valid for a single interface or all of them.

Possibly that the wireless devices are seeing a new MAC address and want to re-authenticate the handshake.
This isn't really a massive problem though to look into.
Did you get any logs at least post connecting the new card?

That would make sense indeed.

Just checking this was normal. As you suggest I won't post any logs unless you really want me to.
Thanks for the answers.
