intel-virtual-output does not work in Wayland

Hi,

I have laptop that has the display ports wired to the discret card, so basically need to use `intel-virtual-output` in order to activate and use them.

This works fine when I start gnome with xorg, but with the default gnome session (wayland) I get the following error: `No VIRTUAL outputs on ":0".`

Any ideas on how can I past this?

Re: intel-virtual-output does not work in Wayland

You can't. Or use nouveau if possible. Or if you don't care about general battery saving, utilize the PRIME offloading method, which would if the nvidia driver is a requirement, still limit you to xorg.

intel-virtual-output is specifically implemented within xf86-video-intel, you don't have access to this DDX driver on a wayland session.

Re: intel-virtual-output does not work in Wayland

It supports GNOME's Wayland implementation and may help in unlocking access to the screens, granted you aren't running into any other bug with it.

So let me get this right, if I use nouveau with bumblebee I can use intel-virtual-output ?

Can you point me to a wiki page?

No you should (at least in theory, no idea how GNOME will handle this) be able to use your screens without intel-virtual-output,

intel-virtual-output is Xorg server only, period.
