TearFree option when using xf86-video-amdgpu works perfect but it's no use for me, because there is no support for video decoding. The only option for me, is to use the ATI drivers. I've tried different DE's, compton, xfce's compositor, everytime the system freezes after a while (seconds). How to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Your DDX driver does have no relation to your ability of having video decoding, why do you surmise that? If you are actually running on amdgpu you want to be using xf86-video-amdgpu and not the xf86-video-ati ddx.

I'm using xf86-video-amdgpu with TearFree option right now, and it's working perfect. The problem I have is this: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=244926 . So that makes it impossible for me to use any media player. That's why I'm asking if it's possible to fix the TearFree freezing problem when using the ATI drivers.

Try compton, start it with
compton --backend glx --vsync opengl-mswc &Or use GNOME, their compositor is excellent.
EDIT: sorry, you already mentioned compton but try those options.

Thanks, opengl-mswc option worked! Question: Now that is fixed, should I stick to compton or completely switch to Wayland? From what I understand, Wayland is supposed to be superior to any other option, but I'm concerned about compatibility issues.

Wayland is the best in respect of tearing but any programs running under xwayland will not benefit; Firefox can now be run directly under Wayland though: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Firefox#Wayland
If you have the problem with other programs that will only run under xwayland then perhaps try GNOME's X-based desktop, that also seems to work better than compton.
