How to PKGBUILD source local directory?

I'm trying to create my own configuration for st. The default setup from AUR contains only default config, but I also want to I have a patches directory to keep there needed patches.
The default directory contains only: config.h PKGBUILD

I created patches directory and stored here two patches: st-alpha-0.8.2.diff st-clipboard-0.8.2.diff
PKGBUILD directory: config.h patches/ PKGBUILD

Default source line looks like this: source=(http://dl.suckless.org/st/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz config.h)
Now I want to add my patches directory to the source

If place it like this: source=(http://dl.suckless.org/st/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz config.h patches)
I get error: ERROR: patches was not found in the build directory and is not a URL.

Even if only want to source files from this directory like this: source=(http://dl.suckless.org/st/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz config.h patches/*)
I get error: ERROR: st-alpha-0.8.2.diff was not found in the build directory and is not a URL.

I failed to find any explanations on this, so my question is how do I source my local directory?

Re: How to PKGBUILD source local directory?

If you don't specify it as an URL, the files are expected to be alongside the PKGBUILD itself. Thus do what Allan says in that case.
If you specify them as an URL (in this case file://....) you could keep them somewhere else but it would then 'download' the files and put them alongside the PKGBUILD when retrieving the sources, just like any other external/non-local sources.
