Bumblebeed not starting on boot

I'm trying to use bbswitch and bumblebee to disable the discrete GPU on my laptop according to the instructions on this page. I have enabled bumblebeed.service with "systemctl enable bumblebeed" and then rebooted. When I run "cat /proc/acpi/bbswitch" I get this output:

cat: /proc/acpi/bbswitch: No such file or directory

and then "systemctl status bumblebeed" returns:

* bumblebeed.service - Bumblebee C Daemon
     Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/bumblebeed.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
     Active: inactive (dead)

Starting bumblebeed manually with "systemctl start bumblebeed" and running "cat /proc/acpi/bbswitch" returns this:

0000:01:00.0 OFF

Which is the expected output. I'm confused why the unit is inactive even when enabled, but still works when started manually.

Re: Bumblebeed not starting on boot

I don't see it in your description so I'll ask...

Did you add acpi_rev_override=1 to the Kernel parameters?

Re: Bumblebeed not starting on boot

Yes I have (as well as installing the two packages it says), sorry for forgetting to mention it.

Re: Bumblebeed not starting on boot

It's also mentioned that you may have to reboot a couple of times for firmware to notice it.

Re: Bumblebeed not starting on boot

Yes, I also tried rebooting several times (probably five or so, I don't have an exact count).
