gimp-print vs gutenprint

Hi folks, i have a problem printing from gimp: he says that the print plugin is broken...i've looked into the pacman.log and i found gimp-print has been removed by gutenprint...

Is that normal?

gutenprint is the replacement for gimp-print.  You shouldn't have any problems with printing from gimp.  wink

Re: gimp-print vs gutenprint

He is right. I can't find even find a print dialog in the gimp. The reason is that gimp-print always included the printing plugin for the gimp. And gutenprint is configured with the option --without-gimp2. This means that it is now impossible to print from within gimp.

thx man smile

following your discorver i've tried to recompile gutenprint without the flag but it gives me an error:

in the meanwhile i'll try to discover what is the cause of this problem.

Re: gimp-print vs gutenprint

i've solved the compiling problem using this flag

./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-samples --with-cups --without-translated-ppds

but the problem doesn't go away on gimp sad

you are correct.  this does suck because gimp-print is no longer available.

Re: gimp-print vs gutenprint

In the meantime I think it's wise to fall back to gimp-print for production purposes.

It's still on the 0.7.1 ISO-File.  8)

Re: gimp-print vs gutenprint

Yep, works now... thanks.
I have to manually point now to gutenprint the location of the turboprint .ppd files (it was not necessary with gimp-print), but it does work.
