Dear Group
lsb_release -a
LSB Version: 1.4
Distributor ID: Arch
uname -r
5.1.7-arch1-1-ARCH
I am running this as a VM on virtualbox with 3 network interfaces:
1. Nat
2. Bridged to the wifi
3. Host-Only
I have other Linux vms that work perfect. But the Arch distro isnt assinging IPs to the enp0s9
I am having to manually do a dhclient enp0s9 to get an IP for that.
dhcpcd is running and is enabled. disabling and re-enabling didnt help
Also surprising is when i disable dhcpcd and reboot, it somehow runs again. no idea why so?
Please advise.
Thanks in Advance.

Please use code tags when pasting to the boards: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … s_and_code
So, you have wicd running, which would conflict with any dh{cpcd,client} commands or services you ran. See: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi … ot_running

Thank you. Will have a look. If i could disable wicd, that would be the easiest fix. Let me read up

It seems wicd has a limit of only 1 interface and cant manage multiple interfaces.
So I disabled and stopped wicd:
systemctl disable wicd.service
systemctl stop wicd.serviceThen created 3 netctl profiles
[19:24:31:root@kaalitopi:/etc/netctl] cat profile_enp0s3
Description='A basic dhcp ethernet connection'
Interface=enp0s3
Connection=ethernet
IP=dhcp
#DHCPClient=dhcpcd
#DHCPReleaseOnStop=no
## for DHCPv6
#IP6=dhcp
#DHCP6Client=dhclient
## for IPv6 autoconfiguration
#IP6=stateless
[19:24:39:root@kaalitopi:/etc/netctl] ls -l profile_enp0s*
-rw------- 1 root root 224 Jun 7 19:16 profile_enp0s3
-rw------- 1 root root 224 Jun 7 19:17 profile_enp0s8
-rw------- 1 root root 224 Jun 7 19:17 profile_enp0s9
[19:24:51:root@kaalitopi:/etc/netctl]followed by enabling the netctl profiles
netctl enable profile_enp0s3
netctl enable profile_enp0s8
netctl enable profile_enp0s9and a system reboot
Thanks for pointing me in the correct direction. I got to learn a fair bit. Ofcourse it took few hrs of research and reading!
