Look into the servers smb log, (not the system journal about broken service invocation) but I guess a symlink link to / along the "follow symlinks = yes" policy is just enough to pull the breaks.

All logs under /var/log/samba are empty except smb.log and nmb.log which show no errors.
Is there a different log directory?

Raise the log level. Remove the symlink (and restart smb) - it should absofuckinglutely not be there.

To what should I change my log level? this is the current output:

kernel.printk = 1       4       1       4

As for the symlink, I cant remove it:

rm: refusing to remove '.' or '..' directory: skipping '../'

Symlinks look like this "lrwxrwxrwx"
I'd suggest post the damn thing with all filenames "ls -lah /Red-Vol"

Put "log level = 3" in [global] and restart smb, nmb.  Try again to access the share and paste the new logs here

Hi,
I've just tried recreating the share on a live Arch enviroment, and a Clear Linux environment, and the error persists. Whatever the error is, it's within the drive.
Any idea on what it could be? I'm quite clueless...

I've tried getting rid of the Trash-1000. It reappears after being deleted almost immediately.
The btrfs folder is a simple file backup.
I'll try creating a copy on ZFS or XFS and see if the problem persists.
No idea what else can cause this...

remove these from your conf

        unix extensions = No
        wide links = Yes

So, it fails on various server OS and also sharing from other FS.
Is there a firewall in the network?

Have you enabled apparmor?

I just had this same problem and the cause was, me enabling apparmor for snaps. Fix was this

edit + it does show up in syslog

That was it! the share is working again.
I enabled apparmor when first installing (about a year back) and forgot it's even there.
