Hi Guys,
the subject says it all: Is there any real difference between the wine and wine-staging package as of today? I see that both carry the same version number (4.9) and both have pretty much been created at the same time. That would lead me to believe that they are compiled from the same source, making wine-staging obsolete. (I have been using it for a long time due to its dxvk support, but I only noticed today that they are on the same version now.)
Unfortunately the current wine-staging (4.9-1) does not run WoW in the most recent version while wine-staging 4.8-1 does. Therefore I tried wine (4.9-1) which also doesn't work, albeit it doesn't crash either. That might have something to do with dxvk though ...
Any clarification will be highly appreciated.
Cheers,
Smoerrebroed

If they were compiled from the same source, there would be no need for the different packages.
The differences are the following additional staging patches which are not yet included in normal wine: https://github.com/wine-staging/wine-st … er/patches
wine-staging and the patches it applies are always rebased on top of the officially released wine, which is why the "version number" stays synchronised.
