Hi guys!
I am a chemistry PhD candidate getting interested in free software and Linux.
Have been a Windows user for 20 years soon, and due to YouTube recommendations I started to learn more and more about Linux and I'm jumping into the deep waters as I love me some challenge. I've installed Arch in a VM, and playing around right now, and I learned a great deal about how the system works. I hope to learn more, the Arch wiki and the forum are excellent resources.
Nice to be part of the community.
The only way... is all the way!

Hello !
went from Windows to Ubuntu and now Arch ...
I find Linux interesting and somebody told me that Arch is the best way to learn it since you mostly have to do everything by yourself.
So here i am and it's nice to be here.

Hi,
I'm maybe two months in, after stumbling on Luke Smith's Youtube videos showing i3 gaps on Arch, and I'm hooked. I've been a Windows and Mac user, more Mac lately, but am switching to Arch exclusively. I'm a network engineer, so I get to use whatever, as long as I support it, and I'm having a lot of success with using Arch on my workstation in the office, and a 10 year old X200 ThinkPad for my laptop. I've used Linux in the past, but only as a quick and dirty tool, not my primary OS. All that has changed since I've experienced the light! I'm still really green, but I hope to gain mastery one day and start contributing to the community.
See you around!

I finally took the plunge into Arch. NO REGRETS. It's been a couple weeks on this 4 year old HP PC and running rock solid!

Hey guys.
I am a Math and Stats student from the US. I started using Linux around the start of 2019 after using Windows for most of my life. I went from Ubuntu to Mint to Manjaro pretty quickly and then stayed on Manjaro for a few months before deciding I would try out Arch.

Hey all,
Greetings from Tennessee in the USA! I used Arch way back around 2011 but distro-hopped around and came back finally full time just yesterday. I re-chose this mainly because I forgot how much I actually enjoy using Arch and managing things myself. It's nice to call the shots on your install without having to uninstall things you don't want. Besides that pacman is the absolute best package manager around hands down. Glad to be back!

Hi fellas !
New Arch user here, from Sweden ! :-)
I have however been an *buntu user for about 13-14 years. At times I have been a "filthy dualbooter", most of the time since I needed the other OS (the one which thay name shall not be spoken) because of work. But for the last 5 years I have been running linux exclusively on all my riggs, and made the switch completely . For a couple of reasons I recently decided to get out of my comfort zone completely, and dip my toes in the Arch-pond. Slowly immersing my self in to it and see where it might lead me. Currently I have Arch on my desktop/workstation and laptop but I'm well on my way to switch to Arch on the rest off my machines here at home. So yeah...so far so good !

Warm welcomes to all the new (and returning) Archers! It is a beautiful time to dive deep into the amazingness that is the Arch Linux framework/universe/multiverse. I hope that your time with Arch will be as fruitful as mine has been.

Hello, I've used Ubuntu on my server since version 12.04(?), and I've recently started moving to Linux desktops from being a lifelong Windows user.
I've tried quite a few distro's, but they all seem really heavy or the software is older than I'd like. After moving from Ubuntu -> Debian -> Mint -> Xubuntu I decided that I like xfce4 as my desktop. I then tried Manjaro and while I like the idea it still felt really heavy. I did like the AUR, though I kind of wish there was some sort of notification when a package I'm using is updated. One of the things I've really grown to like about Linux is how I can update all my packages with a single command.
I've recently started programming in C/C++ Qt5 moving from C# in .Net 4 and .Net Core 2. A cross platform GUI is awesome and .NET->Qt5 has been both fun and mostly painless. QString's are basically witchcraft.
I had hoped to avoid needing to ask for help during my Arch setup. Alas I'm just not that great, so I hope I don't annoy the community too much.

You can use email notifications.
Look at "Package Actions" , at the right side of an aur package page .
(you'll need to login with your AUR account to set them)
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

@Lone_Wolf - Thanks, I've enabled notifications on a few packages I use. This should help me keep them up to date.
