I was just setting up Arch an following the instructions from the ArchWiki page. I installes Xorg and wanted to install Xmonad, but whenever I start anything with xinit, it seems as if the console is frozen. I then switch to another session and execute kill -15 Xorg to be able to do anything again in the main session. When in the "frozen" state, it turns out I can type in commands and create files, but all I see is the frozen default terminal without any UI. I tried using the default xinit config without Xmonad or anything, nothing seems to work. I also tried Display Managers but all of them except of GDM also did not show up. With some of them I got a blank black screen instead of the terminal. GDM is the only thing that works somehow and I can enter Gnome sessions and open Xterm properly. If I add other window managers to GDM then I get the same problems again and only see a black screen. I tried reinstalling everything from xorg to my nvidia drivers, but nothing works. Any Ideas how I can fix this?
Sometimes when I kill Xorg, Xmonad or Xterm show errors like "X11 error: Bad Drawable", but I am not sure if this is not because I killed the Xserver. I also looked into the Xorg logs and all other logs I could find, but nothing out of the ordinary shows up.

Please post your xorg log.

Thanks for your help. I just restarted my system and got a new error, telling me that Xorg cant find any screen. I changed the Xorg configs and now it just works. I cannot say for sure why, but I think that I should have restarted the system after reinstalling Xorg and the graphics drivers.

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
Alterntaively you can report it for deletion, since the magic autofix doesn't provide much insight into the problem.
