[Solved] Can't shutdown or reboot my system as user

Couldn't boot it up an hour ago, now can't shut it down haha. So basically all my buttons for reboot and shutdown in gnome and i3 and so on dont do anything anymore, and if I go into a terminal or a tty and type reboot or shutdown i get:

reboot
Failed to set wall message, ignoring: Interactive authentication required.
Failed to reboot system via logind: Interactive authentication required.
Failed to talk to init daemon.

shutdown
Failed to set wall message, ignoring: Interactive authentication required.
Failed to call ScheduleShutdown in logind, proceeding with immediate shutdown: Interactive authentication required.
Failed to set wall message, ignoring: Interactive authentication required.
Failed to power off system via logind: Interactive authentication required.
Failed to talk to init daemon.

they work when I sudo them though(through a tty at least), and LightDM's reboot works (though havent tested shutdown)

I honestly still barely understand how daemons and all that work so I think i may have accidentally flipped something when I was trying to solve my previous issue (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=247054) because just before I fixed it.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, messed up polkit when I installed CDM, big oops, a reinstall fixed my issues.
