[Solved] System no longer sees hard drive to boot UEFI

I have a Dell 9370 that was working for about 6 months but it no longer sees the drive. It coincides with both a system update and using an ubuntu live cd mounting the root partition for extra space. The system is setup as LVM on LUKs with an unencrypted boot/EFI. The system checks in the Dell bios say everything is fine, I can boot my multiboot usb stick fine and mount the partitions. I tried going through the instructions again and redoing the grub-install portion, as it looks grub related to me, to no avail. Seems like it is something boot loader/efi related, not driver, or kernel, as it isn't making it that far. I also ran fsck and it found no errors on either the root or boot partitions. SMART checks show no issues. I updated the Dell BIOS to the latest just as a last ditch effort and it did nothing (of course it worked on the previous version, so...) I'm not sure what forum this belongs in, as it spans multiple topics, so I put it here since perhaps it is hardware related...

Any ideas on areas to retry/look besides what I've already done?

I re-ran

grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot --bootloader-id=grub
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Don't think it is this, but I ran this too:

mkinitcpio -p linux

Re: [Solved] System no longer sees hard drive to boot UEFI

I'm fairly certain I never did this before, so I'm not sure why I need to now, but there is a section for a special EFI entry for Dell. I copied grubx64.efi there with the different name and it now sees the drive.
