Have you unmuted them? Install a mixer and route sound to them: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … #Graphical

Re: Audio not working properly

When i go into alsamixer it says 00 on Master so i think its unmuted yes (& the volume is at 60).
Also when i press f6 in alsamixer (to display the sound cards) i see HDA Intel PCH, HDA NVidia, HDA NVidia - if that helps.

EDIT: when i run alsabat i actually do hear a beep in my headphones. But any audio from other applications like my browser still goes through my pc speakers?

Post

aplay -lL
amixer -c0 #Replace this 0 with the correct card from the aplay -l output should 0 not be the correct card.
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks
pacmd list-sink-inputs #During active playback of something

In general if you intend to use pulseaudio you should focus on pulseaudio, often trying to fumble around with ALSA tools at the same time can be counterproductive. FWIW there has been a lot of jack detection work in the kernel recently, so might "just" run into a regression here.
