Should a package be installing its own QT5 files?

Hi everyone, I'm very new to Arch and loving it. I was about to install musescore just now:

https://www.archlinux.org/packages/comm … musescore/

But I noticed in the Package Contents list a bunch of QT5 files that I would expect QT5 dependencies to install, not musescore itself.

So what happens if the musescore package contains old QT5 files compared to other installed QT5 components?

I have looked at a few other random packages that depend on QT5 and only musescore seems to install its own QT5 files. So I'm a bit concerned.

Would be great to know if I'm worrying about nothing or if this could be a problem.

They are dependencies. They will only be pulled in if they are not already installed.

Re: Should a package be installing its own QT5 files?

The interesting and strange thing is that musescore copies the files from qt5-webengine to new locations in its own package.

I don't really understand this related discussion: https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/4036

https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/ … s.txt#L709

qt5-webengine        ->        musescore

/usr/lib/qt/libexec/QtWebEngineProcess -> /usr/bin/QtWebEngineProcess
/usr/share/qt/resources/* -> /usr/lib/qt5/resources/*
/usr/share/qt/translations/qtwebengine_locales/* -> /usr/lib/qt5/translations//qtwebengine_locales/*

Edit: Maybe that has something to do with their AppImage creation?

That's exactly what I thought too - but no, check this out:

musescore package contents screenshot

Those QT5 files are part of the musescore package itself. I also checked inside the musescore package (the pkg.tar.xz file) and they are there. Hmm...

Good find, thank you smile I don't understand it either, now I'm really keen to get to the bottom of this, might check in with the musescore devs
