So i play an online game called surviv.io.
Except I freeze every couple of minutes into the game for around 5 secs each time.
It's not lag because when I ping server I get 50ms of response time which is good for an online game.
BTW i have an intel n3710 and 4GB of ram and I'm currently on xorg
Xfce desktop and using compton as wm
Ram is fine I did a memtest x86 test and passed all 4/4 tests
I've installed x86-video-intel mesa and other related intel packages.
I can't seem to figure out what causes this and i hope I will
Please help.
Thanks

I'd start by dropping compton (it's not a WM but a compositor, you can just kill it) and see whether the issue remains.
The next thing to drop would be x86-video-intel (and implcitly use the modesetting X11 driver, ensure there's no intel config file lingering in /{etc,usr/share}/X11/xorg.conf.d - it could prevent the X11 server from starting)

I'm afraid i'll have tearing if I remove my conf file from /usr/share/X11/corg.conf.
I'm fine with dropping compton however if I remove the xorg config file I'll have tearing
Is there another way to stop tearing ?

The point of the exercise is to isolate the cause.
Also the config file won't do anything sane to the modesetting driver anyway - just impede its invocation.

UPDATE: i've already tried without compton and seems like the issue persists

Possibly related and directly before your thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=247308

Hmmm...
Sound like the issue was in the xf86-video-intel (not sure, still testing)
And maybe compton would do the job of the config file.
I'll test and update this post.
[UPDATE] the issue still persists.
What are my options?
[EDIT] do I have to remove all 86 like drivers like mesa and such ?
[EDIT] I found out it"s a network problem.
I have like 50ms when I play but randomly it looses connection to the server.
I know its not from my end because I've never has such problem with other distros and I don't know how to troubleshoot a networking problem.
