ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad: kernel bug: Touch jump detected and discard

Hey everyone,

Recently, I've been experiencing severe issues with my ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad. They include unresponsive and a jumpy cursor.

The touchpad may work without any problems for a while and then become unresponsive or jumpy all of the sudden.

Has anyone experienced similar issues?

Thanks

Re: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad: kernel bug: Touch jump detected and discard

I have this same issue. I'm seeing the error from bumblebee though, oddly enough.

Bumblebee status: Error (3.2.1): [XORG] (EE) event16 - DELL07EC:00 06CB:7E92 Touchpad: kernel bug: Touch jump detected and discarded.

I'm just starting my journey in to troubleshooting this issue, so I have nothing to add except to confirm that it's an issue. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 15 7573. I'm only seeing this issue when the Nvidia GM108M card is active (using bumblebee and proprietary driver), not yet observed while using the Intel UHD 620 integraded graphics.

Did you ever track down anything on this issue @joasis? I'll return if I figure out more. Good luck!
