Thunderbird Authentication

I am posting this to head off the inevitable.

As anticipated, Google application passwords seems to have reached its end of life.   For me, it happened this morning just over half an hour ago.   Should thunderbird report that your login failed, and it prompts for a new password, don't follow it down that rabbit hole.  It would seem that, as of this morning, one must change the authentication method to OAuth2.
