My system is randomly freezing ever since I installed a Nvidia GTX 750 TI, for some reason audio still works but my system will just randomly stop responding to the point where I cannot even switch tty's. I am just using the nvidia package for the nvidia drivers and I am using the kernel modesetting parameter even though it did not affect the freezing. I don't see anything that stands out in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and I don't see anything interesting in journalctl or dmesg. Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.
Also: the freezing does not appear to happen in anything fullscreen or anything that uses 3D graphics such as games

Does the frozen™ system still repsond to ICMP requests ("can you ping it")?
Is it an optimus system? What's the environment anyway (desktop environment)?
Since it doesn't happen under load, it might be related to CPU C-states? (see eg. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … ete_freeze )
Can you still soft power-off (using the power button, but not holding it for a hard power-off)?
You should ideally share logs ("sudo journalctl -b -1" after it happened and the xorg log)

Sometimes I can soft power it off but it usually hangs on the poweroff when I soft power it off while frozen. Also I use i3 as a desktop envitonment with the non optimus nvidia driver. I will not be able to check the logs for a few days though. Also my cpu is an AMD A10 and not an Intel cpu.

Microcode issue?

I have tried the CPU maximum C-state kernel parameter but that has not helped and not using the microcode updates has not helped either.

What's kinda puzzling is that the freeze does *NOT* happen while gaming, I'd otherwise have said there's some power supply lack (like wrong PCIe slot or bad dedicated power supply) or the GPU might be broken.

My power supply is a bit on the low side, like just barely enough to power my setup though I don't think that that is the issue because once it freezes it sometimes continues playing video/audio and just stops accepting any input. My PSU is rated for 190 watts but it has a AMD A10 an+ a SSD + a GTX 750 ti

What "A10"?
They easily draw 100W, the GeForce draws 60W (nvidia says a 300W PSU is minimum), so you're really on the edge and if you're short on power, *anything* can happen (eg. the USB breaks away and your Input devices w/ it)

I don't remember the exact model but it is a quad core CPU running at like 3.5ghz. I will see if a new PSU fixes it in ~9 days
