[Closed] Sound stops working after inactivity/suspend on Fujitsu S760

Hello!

As the title describes, sound stops working when resuming after inactivity, suspend. I use the alsa driver and the alsamixer utility.

I don't believe that the problem relies on Arch Linux because I had the exact same problem when I used Windows 10 on the same machine.

Rebooting, fixes the problem.

Do you have any idea what might be wrong or tips I can use to identify the problem?

Tell me to post additional information that you might need because I can't think of any based in my experience.

Thank you.

The only thing I can think of is checking the BIOS to see if there's a suspend setting you can tweak.

Agreed issues like these that also happen on Windows are often firmware related, you might also want to run an update here if available.

FWIW post, in [ code ] tags

aplay -lL #Before and after suspend
dmesg #After the suspend

Sorry for my delay. For some reason this whole time the problem would not replicate itself.

Re: [Closed] Sound stops working after inactivity/suspend on Fujitsu S760

the dmesg does not contain a suspension cycle, so everything looks fine here, maybe repost that, explicitly after a suspend.

At least according to aplay your card is at least still visible to the system. by what method are you determining your audio to not be working anymore, what do you use to check? Maybe throw in

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
amixer -c0

after the suspend as well.

But still, if it's an issue you can confirm on Windows as well, the first thing you should try is doing an update of your BIOS/UEFI

I'm not sure but maybe, I think I'm wrong about the suspend. I believe the problem mostly occurs when I mess with the headphones. For example sometimes when I unplug the headphones or move them a little bit by accident (in the plugin point) audio might stop working.

By the way, I found a bios update (v1.22, I currently have v1.21) but Fujitsu only gives a .exe file. You can check it here https://support.ts.fujitsu.com/IndexDow … 5EDF2E4B77

Usually, when you update your bios, you get a file which you need to put it in a drive and load it from bios. So why Fujitsu provides me with a windows executable file?
Is there another way to install the update? Or I'm stuck because Fujitsu does not support Linux? I don't really want to reinstall windows just for updating the bios...

I did it after the audio stopped working. Here is the output:
