I have tried using wifi-menu which always gives me one of two errors
Profile ‘’ does not exist
Or
Passphrase must be 8..63 characters
I have also tried using netctl by making a profile myself and starting the profile with my interface (wlo1) down. I have looked at a ton of other posts and wiki pages and even a video or two but no matter what way I go about making this profile it doesnt work. It also doesn’t work when I use the method on the official wiki of how to set up a wireless connection.
I have also tried using wpa_supplicant but for some reason I cannot run the command wpa_cli. It returns the message
Could not connect to wpa_supplicant: (nil) - retrying
I have the xfce4 desktop environment installed. This means that I have managed to connect to the wifi before, and I managed to install some packages and even the de before my wifi stopped working.
I belive the cause of the problem has something to do with dchpcd. For some reason, I keep getting error messages saying that dchpcd is timing out.
*note: I couldnt paste info directly into the post because I’m posting this on my phone since my device can’t connect to the internet.

There is much wrong here.
First, tell us what WiFi chip set you are using. Does it show up as an available interface using the ip link command? If you use the iw command with the scan sub-command, can you see your access point?
Have you installed Arch Linux using the Installation Guide so that we can support you?
You cannot use wpa_cli unless wpa_supplicant is running. Also, if not using the default control interface, you have to tell wpa_cli use the control interface you configured wpa_supplicant to use.
Is dhcpcd running? Why? did it get started from netctl, or did you enable it? Also dhcpcd is useless until you associate with an access point. Have you worked through this page of our wiki ?

Hi. I'm happily typing this response from my laptop now because I successfully connected to my network. There's still a few problems (for example, I'm pretty sure wifi-menu still isn't working), but I figured it doesn't matter if that stuff doesn't work if I'm connected to a network, especially because I'm not going to need to be changing networks on this laptop.
In my post, I said that dhcpcd wasn't working properly. I think the problem was that for some reason my dhcpcd lease was expired. I was messing around in a live boot trying to see if I could do anything from there, and I ran
dhcpcdwhich automatically renewed my license, allowing me to connect to my network. Thanks for the response, but since I'm now connected to my network I think my problem is solved.

Okay, but I think we should leave this thread open for a while. This feels a little like a house of cards that could collapse the next time the lease expires.
