This is a brand new computer I have assembled. It uses a AMD 2600 and a compatible Motherboard. So it is "brand new" but the hardware is from the previous generation.
It has two SSDs, and the only OS I am running is ArchLinux. I have installed AL many times, usually in dual boot systems with Windows, and I think this is the first time I am having this problem.
I followed the installation guide. First I did ls /sys/firmware/efi/efivars and this existed, so I was botting in EFI.
In /dev/sda I created 3 partitions. First sda1 a EFI partition of 512M. This was then formatted as vfat32. Then a 8g swap partition, mkwap and swapon, and finally the rest of the disk (around 100g) an ext4 partition for /, mkext4. In sdb I have only 1 partition using the whole disk for home. mkext4
Then I did something like:
mkdir /mnt/boot
mkdir /mnt/home
mount /dev/sda3 /mnt
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot
mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/homethen I installed the OS: pacstrap /mnt base
Then I generated the fstab with genfstab -U /mnt >> /mnt/etc/fstab and it seems to be perfect.
Then I arch-rooted and did the GRUB stuff following the guide:
grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot --bootloader-id=GRUB
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfgBoth commands seemed to OK and they did not reported any error. But for example doing the last command in my current computer, it says:
Generating grub configuration file ...
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-linux
Found initrd image: /boot/initramfs-linux.img
Found fallback initrd image(s) in /boot: initramfs-linux-fallback.img
Found Windows 10 on /dev/sda1
doneAnd in my new computer I don't remember it saying anything about finding linux images or initrd images or anything. I think it created a grub.cfg which is sort of empty.

I think it created a grub.cfg which is sort of empty.
Sort of empty? What does that mean?
Please read How To Ask Questions The Smart Way and then include the grub config and the output of blkid.

My mistake was that initally I did my /boot as ext4, and I installed the things as usual. But then when I went to install grub, it complained about that, so I re-format it to vfat, and this obviously removed everything that was installed before. So I had to reinstall the kernel and everything works now.
