Hello,
I've got a simple Zalman ZM-Mic1 microphone with a 3.5mm phone jack connecter and trying since hours to get it working. I followed the https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … Microphone steps but with no luck.
I can see my microphone on pavucontrol under input devices. It correctly detects that microphone is plugged in or not (showing Rear Microphone (plugged in) for the port).
Under alsamixer I selected my Card HD-Audio Generic then selected the Rear Mic (where my microphone is plugged in) as the input source and increased the Rear Mic Boost to 50.
I uncommented the line load-module module-alsa-source device=hw:1,0 in /etc/pulse/default.pa as mentioned in the wiki above.
There is simply no input. Detection of the microphone works perfectly though. Plugging it in and out of the ports is correctly detected. When I plug it into the front connection it correctly detects that it's the front port.
The microphone is not broken. It works perfectly fine on Windows 10 on the same machine and same port.
Here is the output for pacmd list-sources

You are not recording anything in these outputs, or if you do, you are accessing an incorrect ALSA device and not the pulse sink.
Try
parec --file-format=wav --device=alsa_input.pci-0000_0c_00.3.analog-stereo testing.wav #While this is running post the next ones
pacmd list-sources
pacmd list-source-outputs

Looks alright, was the testing.wav silent as well? Those panel controls detected by amixer look relevant, try
amixer -c1 set 'Rear-Panel',0 60,60
amixer -c1 set 'Rear Mic Boost',0 0,0 #Just a precaution, you may omit this, however having mic boosts at full blast usually just leads to noise
amixer -c1 set 'Capture',1 60,60 #No clue how relevant this one is and it seems quite disjoint from the rest, but it's there and it's muted so it might be relevant.
#Retry the steps again (systool and uname aren't needed anymore, these were just to check some general things, the others you might still do)
#If it still doesn't work, try raw hardware access on the detected captures
