archlinuxzfs: High disk activity on idle load

I've been using zfs for a while now and always observed how the spindles that form the 3 disk raid5 are almost always moving their needles.
Up until now, I thought it was due to activity but today, I upgraded my system and there's virtually nothing running on it but I still can notice a lot of disk activity.
Is this normal with zfs? Is there anything I can configure to ease the disk activity?
It's not about noise, it's more about HDD lifespan.
