Stylus tablet cursor disappearing

I use a Wacom Bamboo tablet with an up-to-date version of Arch Linux (duh!).

1. I open a new window, only using the tablet. Straight to number 3 if I use the mouse to open a new window.

2. The tablet pointer works as intended and looks just like the mouse pointer if I only use the tablet.

3. The tablet pointer disappears when I click on something with the mouse. It still works on all parts of the screen, I just can't see the pointer. The mouse pointer changes its shape depending on what the invisible tablet cursor is hovering over (like changing between normal select and text select).

3-1. It reappears - cross-shaped - when I hover the tablet pen over the status bar on top of the screen or the Desktop. It disappears when I hover back into the window I was using. Clicking the status bar doesn't change anything.

3-2. When I hover over a window with a simple interface (applications whose whole appearance change if you change your theme, I don't know what they're called if they have a name I can call 'em. I.E. GEdit, Transmission, Terminal), the cursor reappears and functions normally within the window including changing shape.
It gets stuck at whatever shape it was before exiting the window if I hover outside the window - for example, it's stuck as the right-facing horizontal resize cursor shape if I hovered outside the window to the right. It works and I can see the tablet cursor, but it doesn't change shape like it should.

It works until I move the mouse. At that point, back to number 3.

I do freelance illustration work, and being able to use the tablet is pretty crucial to me. I'd hate to have to go back to Ubuntu or have to use (god forbid) Windows because of this! Please tell me if you need more information / can reproduce this / if this issue has been / has NOT been reported.

(I do have a device with Windows on it so I won't starve or anything but Windows is SO hard to use)

What general environment? GNOME/Wayland/Xorg ? There's this similar thread which sounds similar and is only present on wayland, so you might want to try and check behaviour on xorg/other desktop environments.
