Hello, i am using Arch GNU/Linux on my Laptop, that is experiencing high temperatures while gaming.
When playing games on ultra graphical settings the temperatures of most sensors peak till 80 degree Celsius average, could that cause any damage to the laptop?
Also the right side of the screen, not the borders, but the actual screen itself, gets really hot, could that cause any damage over time, to the screen?
If you want me to post more information about the system, like info about the hardware, feel free to ask.
Any help regarding my two questions is welcome.

80 degrees may be within the safe operating parameters of your card. Use lmsensors, for example, to determine those ranges.
Moving to NC...

Thanks for the reply.
If 80 degree Celsius is o.k [edit for laptop hardware in general] , then i can run my games in ultra graphics. ![]()
What about the screen getting hot, i do not mean the borders, but i mean the actual screen, could that cause damage to the screen over time? Or can the heat blown onto the screen from the ventilators, be safely ignored?

I did not say 80° is safe… far from it.
I said to check your specs yourself and determine what the safe operating range is.

My excuses for the misconception.
I will certainly look into the maximum temperature for my specific hardware.
[edit] I just looked up the WWW and it seems the maximum temperature for CPU Intel i5 is 105 degree Celsius, and GPU NVIDIA GTX 1050 is 97 degree Celsius.
So if i stay below 85 degree Celsius, i should be fine, please correct me if i am wrong.
[another edit] When i think about it, maybe it is unhealthy for the system to push it to 80 degree Celsius, just for gaming, and it is healthier to keep the hardware around 40-50 degree Celsius.
So i will lower my game settings from ultra graphics to medium graphics.
